The Fabulous Four

Well..here are our adorable four puppies! They do not all have names...in an effort to not attach myself (yeah right!)

The entire labor story was this:
Delilah went into labor around midnight (late Thursday, early Friday of Easter weekend). She labored all night, and the next morning we decided to take her in to the vet, because she had not had a puppy and we were worried. The vet prepped Lilah for a C-section...and she didn't like that...so she had a puppy! After 4 puppies, which is all was originally seen on the initial x-ray, they did another x-ray. She still had FIVE puppies inside, which makes a total of 9. She ended up having 5 "naturally," but only 3 survived from those 5. The vet said the other 2 were still born. After a couple of hours between #5 and #6, the vet decided to do a C-section for the remaining 4. Only our one precious boy survived the C-section. They said this is somewhat common for C-section dogs, because the babies get the anesthesia from the mom, and it is harder to revive them. We were VERY sad to lose 5 puppies, but we love the 4 we have!

The really bummer part is that he decided to fix Delilah during her C-section...without permission. We were really upset about that, but it is probably what is best for Lilah, since she had such a hard labor. SO...these are the Fabulous Four!

This is the day they were born. Lilah was still loopy from the C-section, so the babies slept in a basket.

Hungry puppies!! As you see...we have 2 tri-colored and 2 lemon/whites. The white ones will have light tan spots, and the two tri-colored pups will have more brown as they get older.
