GranSunday Celebrations #1

Today was the first of many GranSunday Celebrations...and what a great one it was. "What is a GranSunday Celebration?" you might ask. About a month ago my dad had the idea to start this new tradition. The last Sunday of each month we have a lunch date with him and all of the family who can join us. This will be our time to celebrate any birthdays, anniversaries, holidays, etc. that take place in that month, and will guarantee us a chance to all be together once a month. What a great idea! You see, even though we live relatively close to each other, it is still hard to all get together on a regular basis. This is the perfect solution!

As soon as we got to Dad and Kay's, Kendyll quickly spotted something green and yellow, and familiar, in Dad's backyard. She called Chelsea over to take a look. What was it? If you guessed something John Deere...you are correct! Dad and Kay found a miniature John Deere Gator...the perfect size for the grandkids. Kendyll is VERY fond of the Gator that my mom has on their land...it is pretty much her favorite thing. Now she has a Gator in BOTH places...how perfect! She played on that Gator all afternoon. She took a brief break to eat lunch, and then was quickly out the door to ride again. I know Braden will be finding all kinds of tricks to do on this thing in a couple of years...but for now he just poses for pictures on it!

For lunch we had roast and all the fixin's...just the way we used to do it growing up. We had roast, carrots, potatoes, gravy, corn, green beans, salad, and corn bread. It was fantastic! For my sisters and I, the "Sunday Roast" is such a comfort food! It reminds me of my childhood in a way few other things do. At the time, we detested the "Sunday Roast" because we would have rather gone to a restaurant to eat...but now...what an awesome memory of sitting at the table on a Sunday afternoon eating delicious food with our family!

We then had DELICIOUS cupcakes and homemade ice cream to celebrate the birthdays of Chelsea, Austin, Cailee, and Grandmother (Shirley). Grandmother and Austin weren't able to be with us...but we celebrated them just the same!!

After riding the Gator some more, Grandad built a REAL tee-pee with Kendyll in the backyard. I am pretty confident that this tee-pee will make it onto Chelsea's blog in the next couple of days...so check it out! It was so great to see Kendyll getting some quality time with her Grandad...which is what GranSunday Celebrations are all about!! Quality time with family!


What a great day! Thanks Grandad and GranKay for an awesome Sunday with the family! It was the perfect way to spend our Sunday afternoon, and Braden was just worn out from all the fun he had! We look forward to many GranSunday celebrations to come!
