Easter Fun!!

Celebration 1: Henke Fish Fry

Every year the Henke side of the family gathers on "The Hill" for the Good Friday fish fry. YUM-MY!! This year there was a special surprise...the Easter Bunny came!! The kids loved it, though Braden wasn't so sure about being so close to this giant bunny.

He tried to keep his distance...

But the bunny did manage to sneak a side hug in...

...but he had no problem with accepting the Bunny's gifts!

We seem to have babies in waves on the Henke side. When Braden was born there were 5 babies born from September to January. Now Avery is part of a group of 6 babies born from November to February. If you don't want to have a baby...avoid drinking the water on "The Hill!"

Celebration 2: Matula Hayride

For my faithful readers, you might remember previous years' posts and pictures of our Easter hayrides. This has always been one of my favorite holiday traditions. This year was no exception. Here is a run-down of the day's events.

1. Pick wildflowers. This year there was a "shortage" so Grandma (Adam's mom) came up with a great idea! She bought silk flowers. The kids drew flowers out of a bucket and had to find the matching flowers in the "flower garden" of silk flowers. Here is Braden holding his first find...which he really did find on his own!!

2. Load up. Everyone gets on the hayride and heads up to "The Hill." (Adam's grandfather's house, which his sister now lives in.)

3. Build a nest. The kids get moss that was gathered from the trees and put their wildflowers in it. This will be the place the Easter Bunny leaves their treats.


4. Get back on the hayride and look for the E.B. Sometimes you have to wait a while...but he (or they) will show up eventually!!

5. The E.B. leaves treats for all the kids in their nests. The hayride goes back to see what fun treats he left!



6. We go back down to Adam's parents and find all the eggs that the E.B. left on his way out.

And our special Easter treat this year...80 new baby chicks for Grandpa! Braden just loves these little guys (and gals!) Don't worry...no chick was injured in the making of these pictures...
